Birthday celebrations turn tragic for Bengaluru BBM students

The student who was driving the car lost control and the car crashed into a tree on the outskirts of the city, police said.

The birthday celebrations of a business management student in Bengaluru ended in tragedy on Thursday morning following a high speed car crash where two friends of the students were killed.

Five students from the Alliance University at Chandapura in south Bengaluru were travelling in the car driven by one of the students who was celebrating his birthday. Three of the students were injured seriously in the crash. The two persons who died in the crash were identified as Druva Sharma and Ram Ashwin, both aged 21, who were second year BBM students at the Alliance University hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

The car was being driven by a student Krishnan who was celebrating his birthday. Krishnan and two others Anjum and Prithvi suffered serious injuries.

The car that the students were travelling in went out of the control of its driver and crashed into a tree on the outskirts of the city, police said. The accident took place around 5.15 am while the students were returning home after celebrating Krishnan’s birthday at his house on the Anekal-Chandapura road. Krishnan who was dropping his friends home was in an inebriated state and was driving in a rash and negligent manner, police said.

“He lost control of the car, entered a wrong lane and rammed into a tree. The victims Druva and Aswhin were sitting on the left side of the car. The impact of the crash killed them at the spot,” a police officer said.

Police are yet to trace the owner of the Rajasthan registered car that was being used by the students.
