On April 27, a 28-year-old gangster, Harsha of Cholarapalya, was murdered in Vijayanagar. The police suspect Mahesh’s murder may be revenge killing as he was closely connected with some of the accused arrested in that case.
Mahesh died at the spot while his associate Rakshith, who was injured, was rushed to hospital. Police have collected CCTV footage from the shop to identify the assailants.
They said Mahesh used to run a gambling joint in the city and was involved in a few murder cases. He had a criminal record at the Vijayanagar police station. “Since he had a criminal background, we suspect rivalry with other rowdy elements was the motive,” a police official said.
