The Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the order of the Vigilance court which ordered a probe against Excise Minister K Babu following allegations that he had taken bribe from bar owners.
Following the order, Babu had submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. But Chandy did not forward it to the governor, instead waited for a relief from the court.
The Vigilance court had acted upon a public interest litigation that bar owners association president Biju Ramesh that he had paid Rs 50 lakh to the minister to reduce bar licence fee. He had alleged that the association had paid a total amount of Rs 10 crore to the minister.
