SIKH PREACHER Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, who was attacked recently, on Friday said that “if police and government fail to expose the mastermind [of the attack] and spell out his name publicly, he along with his sangat will start a peaceful agitation”.

“This conspirator is from a particular organisation. He lives at a particular place. All evidence are with the police. Now, the onus lies on Punjab government and police to bring out his name in public. I will not name him because I want to hear it from government’s mouth,” Dhadrianwale, who was in Patiala, told mediapersons. “I do not want my followers to take law in their own hands. So we will wait till May 26 so that bhog ceremony of Bhupinder Singh Dhakki Wale pass off peacefully.” The preacher, who has been a vocal critic of the SAD-BJP government on drug menace and led an agitation against inaction in Sri Guru Granth Sahib desecration episodes, went on to say that “those who expose fake governments and saints are completely unsafe in Punjab”.

“People who speak the truth here and preach values inscribed in Gurbani are completely unsafe. Those who expose fake saints and governments are snubbed, they will not be allowed to live here in Punjab. Speak out a word against them and you will be killed. I do not want to take any step in haste which leads to mockery of Sikh community, or cause violence but if police fail to name the mastermind, we will lead a peaceful agitation,” he said.

Asserting that in no way he wants peace of Punjab to be compromised, Dhadrianwale said, “I am waiting for Bhupinder Singh’s bhog to pass peacefully. If even by then, police and government fail to announce the name of the conspirator, we will begin the peaceful agitation. Already, I am getting a lot of support from US and Canada, and our agitation will start there too. I am not naming him because I do not want my followers to burn effigies on roads. I do not want to instigate them. Let police/government name the conspirator. It should come out from them, not me. They have already told me who he is, but need some time. So I am giving them that time. Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal has assured me of exposing the mastermind. I am just waiting for him to keep his word.” Dhadrianwale clarified that not only executors but he also wants conspirator behind bars.

“Investigation is okay but I want main conspirator’s name to be spelled out. It is out in front of all that their men and vehicles were used in the attack but still police are shying away from naming their mastermind. I am not naming him because it can cause unrest in Punjab. Sangharsh karna hai par shaanti naal (We will launch a peaceful agitation),” said Dhandrianwale.

He demanded that Akal Takht should punish those culprits who organised a fake chhabeel, and misused the most pious value of Sikhism. So far, the police investigation has revealed that two suspected vehicles used in the attack are registered in the name of ‘Baba Harnam Singh’ whose address is shown as ‘village Mehta of Amritsar’ which is the headquarters of Damdami Taksal dera.
