Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday called upon party leaders to work for the development of the region, the state as well as take along mainstream parties in the Valley in fight against separatism.
“We are ideologically opposed to separatism,” Jaitley said addressing party workers after inaugurating BJP’S four storeyed party headquarters in posh Trikuta Nagar area. The ultra tech office has all the facilities like conference halls and auditorium, apart from well furnished rooms for stay of party workers and leaders visiting Jammu from outside.
Pointing out that party was faced with a strange situation in the state, Jaitley said “We won the maximum number of seats in Jammu and PDP emerged the largest party in the Valley”. “The people gave us their verdict to take care of the interests of Jammu,” he said, adding that the arthmetic thrown by assembly polls also made clear as to which parties will form the government.
“Everybody knows that we both have ideological differences,” he said, adding that under the given situation the challenge is how to move ahead without compromising party’s core ideology against separatism. “I think that both the party leadership at the Centre and in the state will have to face this challenge unitedly,” he added.
“Only talking about PM’s package will not do,” Jaitley said. Referring to the present PDP-BJP coalition government in the state, he said, “We have to use it against separatism in the Valley. We shall use this opportunity for all round development on one hand and to ensure that main stream parties in the Valley are also on.our side in fight against separatism.”
Earlier, party’s national general secretary Ram Lal also said there will be no compromise on party’s core ideology of fighting against separatism. However, “while carrying forward our idealogy, we will also keep in mind the sensitivities of each region,” he added.
