Amid a row over the process in which she got admission, Allahabad University Students’ Union president Richa Singh’s was on Tuesday felicitated with Rani Laxmibai Bravery Award by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Richa faces an internal inquiry on the validity of her admission that could even lead to her expulsion.

Richa’s name was included at the last moment, and unlike the other recipients, who were informed much in advance, Richa was told about it only a day ago, it is learnt. Her name does not find mention in a booklet the UP government got published and distributed. The booklet has details of each award winner.
While Richa did not comment on why she was chosen for the award, sources said she was picked for being the first woman students’ union president of Allahabad University. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the Lucknow centre of Agra-based Sheroes Hangout cafe, which is run and managed by acid attack survivors.
