After concerns were raised by the Pune airport over the increasing menace of stray dogs entering the airstrip, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to make the airport area a ‘no dog zone’ and take a drive to check the dog population in the area. “I had a meeting with the Pune Airport officers to discuss the various issues related to the airport. The authorities have urged the civic body to take action against the stray dogs in the area. It is a very serious issue so I have directed the civic administration to make the Lohegaon Airport a No-Dog zone,” said Mayor Prashant Jagtap.

He said the airport officials informed that an accident was averted recently as a stray dog came in the way of an airplane while landing. “The pilot was alert as he took off the airplane as soon as he found a dog in the way instead of taking a risk of landing the plane,” Jagtap said.
