THE RSS on Monday removed its Agra Dharm Jagran Manch head a day after he allegedly shot at a former pracharak over a financial dispute in Sikandra area.
Ajit Chahar, who sustained gunshot injuries on his hands and legs, was rushed to the hospital, where is condition is stated to be stable. The accused, Ram Gopal Kaka, is absconding, said Hari Parwat Circle Officer Ashok Kumar.
Police said the alleged firing took place at Kaka’s house at Bhawna Estate when the former RSS pracharak of Mathura, Chahar, went to meet him. In his complaint, Chahar has alleged that Kaka had promised a job for his son and asked for Rs 12 lakh in return. He claimed after he paid Rs 2 lakh as the first installment, Kaka stopped responding to his phone calls.
“The victim has told the police that when he went to Kaka’s house on Sunday to inquire about the money, he allegedly fired at him. Chahar claimed he has suffered six bullet injuries, which will be confirmed by the medical report,” said SP (City) Sushil Dhule.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Indian Express over phone, Kaka claimed Chahar used to harass him, as he thought he had got him removed from the post of pracharak. Claiming that Chahar came to his flat in Agra on Sunday and tried to molest his wife, Kaka said: “I only used bamboo sticks to beat him to rescue my wife. I have two licensed guns — a rifle and a revolver — and am ready to send both for tests.”
He added that he has the audio recording of his telephonic conversations with Chahar, which can prove that he was being threatened.
Sources in the RSS said Chahar was removed as pracharak following several complaints against him. “We have suspended Ram Gopal from all his responsibilities and post. Chahar is not with the RSS at present. He has been asked to rejoin after he gets a clean chit from police. He suspected that he was removed because of Ram Gopal but that is not true,” said Pradeep Kumar, RSS’ Braj Prant prachar pramukh.
