Amit Doda, nephew of SAD leader Shiv Lal Doda, allegedly called Bheem Tank to the farmhouse in Abohar where he was brutally murdered, kin of Gurjant Lahoria, another victim in the attack, said on Friday. He added that Lahoria identified four of the nearly 20 people who attacked him.

Gurjant Lahoria’s (alias Janta) hand was chopped off in the attack, which happened last week. He regained consciousness on Friday and gave his statement to the police. “I was along with him when he gave his statement,” said Rana, Lahoria’s elder brother.

“He said that Amit Doda called Bheem for a compromise meeting to settle old issues between them. Bheem had taken Janta along with him,” said Rana.

“On December 11, Bheem came to our house around 10.30am and asked for Janta to come with him to Shiv Lal Doda’s farmhouse for a meeting with Amit Doda. Janta had to go elsewhere at that time but Bheem asked him to come with him.”

Janta is said to have alleged that no soon had they got off from their vehicle, they were surrounded. He allegedly identified Harpreet Harry, Radhiya, Gulabiya and Wajir – all employees of Doda’s liquor vends.

“Janta told that within no time they were attacked by around 20 people. They first chopped off Bheem’s limbs and later turned on Janta as well.”

Janta is under treatment at Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar and has had five operations so far. “We are farmers and have nothing to do with the Dodas. But Bheem was Janta’s friend so he went along with him,” said Rana. Although the police confirmed that Lahoria’s statement was indeed recorded, they were not willing to reveal its details.
