Hours after nine were killed in a road accident near Rajkot city late on Wednesday night, seven pilgrims were killed after a truck rammed into a stationary luxury bus near Junagadh in the wee hours of Thursday.
Junagadh taluka police said that the accident took place at 5.15 AM at Vadal village on National Highway 8D near Junaagadh city. Police said that the luxury bus, which was carrying pilgrims from villages of Rajkot district to Junagadh had halted on roadside after it ran out of fuel. Meanwhile, the truck driver erred in judgement rammed into the bus from behind, killing seven persons.
The victims included six men and a woman and were residents of Vadasada and nearby villages in Rajkot district, police said. Around 15 other pilgrims were also killed. The pilgrims were on their way to Junagadh.
The accident in Junagadh was reported hours after nine persons were killed at Hadala village near Rajkot city after a car and a truck collided at around 10:30 pm on Wednesday.
Juangadh taluka police have arrested driver of the truck and booked him for causing death by negligence under IPC Section 304 (a).
