A joint team of Border Security Force (BSF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Police Force (RPF) arrested an illegal Bangladeshi woman immigrant and two Indian human traffickers in Tripura on Saturday.

The Bangladeshi national has been identified as Mamuda, 30, a resident of Shariatpur district in the neighbouring country. The two Indian touts – Krishna Debnath, 32, and Tutan Dey, 28 – are from the Sabroom district of Tripura.

Speaking to reporters, Tapas Das, In-Charge, Agartala Government Railway Police Station, said the three were nabbed from the Agartala railway station before they could board a train out of the state.

“We arrested these three persons from Agartala railway station based on a tip-off. We have produced them before a local court with a plea for police remand. We are investigating if anyone else is involved. If anyone is involved, we shall identify them and bring them to justice,” the officer said.

He added that the three accused have confessed that they were about to board a train to Bengaluru.

The Bangladeshi woman has also allegedly told the interrogators that she was promised jobs in beauty parlours and as a domestic worker in big cities by human traffickers who brought her.

On Thursday, a joint raid by the BSF and the Tripura Police helped nab three human traffickers and one Bangladeshi national in the North Tripura district.
