Two minors working at a cermaic klin were allegedly crushed to death under a loader machine near Morbi town, Gujarat, in wee hours on Monday.
Dharsingh Bhil (9) and his brother Kevalsingh (6) were run over by a loader machine when they were sleeping on roadside near Bapa Sitaram Ceramic in Jasmatnagar village.
The taluka police said the duo were killed on the spot.
“The brothers were living with their parents in the premises of Bapa Sitaram Ceramic. But there was power disruption at night and therefore labourers of Bapa Sitarama came out of the compound for sleeping. The duo were sleeping near a road which separates Bapa Sitaram from another ceramic factory Sahjanand Ceramic. Operations were on at Sahjanand and a loader was loading soil. However, the driver of the loader did not see the brothers while driving in reverse gear and crushed them to death,” Morbi taluka police sub-inspector Kanji Mundhva said.
Police said the victims hailed from Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.
In his complaint, boys’ father Ambaram identified one, Dilipsinh Babual, as the driver of the loader and named him as accused. Based on the complaint, the Morbi taluka police have booked the loader driver for causing death by negligence and rash driving.
The police said the loader driver ran away after the accident and nobody was detained or arrested till late Monday evening.
