EVEN as youngsters in the state were celebrating Friendship Day, a casual labourer allegedly stabbed his friend to death in Mahuva town of Bhavnagar district on Sunday over a monetary dispute.
Manoj Parmar, a resident of Janta Plot area of Mahuva rang up his friend Ajay Shiyal (20) and asked him to come near Maruti Showroom on Lati Bazar of the town on Sunday morning. However, as soon as Shiyal reached the spot at around 10:30 am, Parmar attacked him with a knife, police said.
Mahuva police inspector Ajaysinh Rajput said that Parmar stabbed Shiyal four to five times and then ran away. Shiyal was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The assailant has also sustained bruise on his hand.
“Shiyal and Parmar were residents of the same locality. Both of them belonged to same age group and were working as casual labourers. However, Shiyal owed around Rs 5,000 to Parmar. The two friends had dispute over this amount leading to the violent attack,” Rajput told The Indian Express.
Parmar was nabbed by Mahuva police from Mahuva town itself. On the basis of a complaint filed by Shiyal’s father Dhiru, Mahuva police have booked Parmar for murder and started further investigation.
