A special CBI court reserved its order till May 2 on the agency’s plea for issuing an arrest warrant against Additional Director General of Police PP Pandey an accused in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.
So far six policemen have been arrested in the case including IPS officer Girish Singhal and DSP Tarun Barot.
CBI had filed a revision petition before the court on Monday. The CBI counsel argued before the judge Gita Gopi that Pandey has evaded two notices dated April 22 and 24 for his appearance before the probe agency.
“A team went to Pandey’s government residence at Bungalow no 24,Dafnala in Shahibaug where his adult son was present. His son did not disclose his whereabouts or his mobile number,” CBI told the court.
CBI said that Pandey reported sick on April 20 and sent a fax message to his office but has not given details of facts pertaining to his illness. Pandey also didn’t leave his contact details in the fax message.
“To begin proceedings to declare him as proclaimed offender under CrPC 82,83 it is required to proceed under CrPC 73 to issue arrest warrant against Pandey,” CBI argued.
