Government schools to have reading sessions on Preamble, Fundamental Duties on Saturdays

The Rajasthan cabinet on Friday decided during a meeting that the Preamble of the Constitution and Fundamental Duties will be read in every government school on Saturdays. According to a government release, this decision was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at his residence on Friday evening.

“In the meeting, it was decided to start reading of the Preamble and Fundamental Duties of the Constitution in every school. This will further strengthen the faith and pride of the young generation of the state in the country’s great Constitution, democracy and nationalism. This will be done every Saturday (no bag day) in the schools,” said the release.

It added newly published textbooks will also have chapters on these.

Another decision taken was to amend the existing laws to give more opportunity to candidates from Rajasthan in state government services by giving more weightage to general knowledge related to the state in recruitment examinations, said the release.

The report of a committee for the formation of new districts was also taken up and ministers held a discussion over the boundaries of the newly-announced 19 districts, after taking into consideration the memorandums received by the government from different areas and public sentiment.
