In a setback to the ruling BJP, Ravindra Angre, a former high-profile cop, who was with the BJP, switched over to join the Congress on Tuesday. Angre was earlier the general secretary of the BJP in Thane district. While Angre named the ongoing Rafale deal controversy as a reason for him to quit the ruling party, sources said that he was upset at being sidelined and marginalised in his own district. Apart from Angre, former Nationalist Congress Party’s general secretary Munaf Hakim, who had recently quit the Sharad Pawar-led party along with Tariq Anwar, also joined the Congress on Wednesday.
