Y S Vivekananda Reddy, 68, brother of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister late Y S Rajashekara Reddy passed away Friday at his home in Pulivendula in Kadapa district. The cause of death is suspected as a heart attack. Vivekananda was twice elected as an MLA from Pulivendula in 1989 and 1994.
However, Vivekananda’s personal assistant and YSRCP leaders raised doubts over his death stating that it was an unnatural death and demanded a probe. M Krishna Reddy, his personal assistant, filed a police complaint stating that there were injuries on his forehead and backside of the head and blood marks were found in the bathroom.
Krishna Reddy in his complaint stated that he went to the deceased’s house today at 9 am but there was no answer at the door. When he called his wife who lives in a different house, she asked him not to disturb Vivekananda as he was probably sleeping.
“The cook and servants arrived at 11 am but still there was no answer. I went inside through a back door and found him lying in the bathroom. There were a couple of blood marks and the death looked unnatural to me,” he stated in his complaint.
YSRCP Vice-President S Vijay Sai Reddy said that the death looked suspicious and demanded an investigation.
He was also elected twice as Lok Sabha MP from Kadapa and once as Andhra Pradesh Member of Legislative Council in 2004. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Reddy’s nephew Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and other relatives rushed to Pulivendula after hearing the news.
