All India Kisan Sabha vice president Hannan Mollah said on Monday that farmers will hold protests in 30 cities from November 26-28 to pressure the central government on fulfilling pending demands.

“We protested in Delhi before. Now we’ll extend it countrywide and demonstrate in 30 cities to push the Centre on our demands,” Mollah said in Agartala after inaugurating a new office building of Krishak-khet mazdoor office in Agartala.

“Our demands include loan waivers, MSP implementation, compensation for protesting farmers’ families, and procurement and ration distribution of crops. These are yet to be met,” he said.

Mollah said farmers are distressed over not getting MSP for produce and many are committing suicide due to loan burdens.

“The NDA government is anti-farmer, betraying and ignoring their problems, unlike past regimes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is farmers’ enemy for declining their issues and not meeting demands,” he alleged.

Thousands of farmers protested in Delhi for almost a year from November 2020 against the three contentious farm laws, which PM Modi eventually repealed in 2021.

The upcoming pan-India protests signal farmers’ simmering discontent over long-pending demands despite last year’s agitation.
