Ahead of the Bihar Assembly election results, which will be announced on Friday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has expressed confidence that the Mahagathbandhan will unseat the ruling NDA. According to Yadav, the chief ministerial face of Mahagathbandhan, the alliance will win over 160 seats in Bihar. The Bihar Legislative Assembly has a total of 243 seats and the simple majority mark is 122. Tejashwi’s prediction of Mahagathbandhan winning over 160 seats contradicts the exit polls on Tuesday, which claimed an NDA clean sweep. Read more
The Goa Police has initiated a probe after an accused in the alleged multi-crore cash-for-jobs scam claimed that a Cabinet minister, an IAS officer and another government official were involved. Earlier this week, Pooja Naik, who was arrested last year told a regional news channel that she collected money at the behest of a Cabinet minister, a senior IAS officer and an engineer employed in a government department. An investigation into the scam, which surfaced in October 2024, revealed that hundreds of people were lured to pay vast sums after being promised jobs in various government departments as part of the scam. As of December last year, 33 FIRs were registered in connection with the case. Read more
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL seeking transfer of the investigation into the alleged suicide of senior Haryana-cadre IPS officer Y Puran Kumar to the CBI. The Division Bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry noted that no case had been made out for interference when an SIT was already conducting the probe. The Haryana-cadre IPS officer who held the rank of additional director general of police was found dead in his residence with a gunshot wound on October 7. Read more
Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, on Wednesday, announced his resignation from the Benjamin Netanyahu cabinet. According to Dermer’s resignation letter, he had promised his family he would serve for only two years but had extended his tenure to help Netanyahu steer Israel through a critical period following the October 7 Hamas attack. Dermer was widely seen as one of Netanyahu’s most trusted allies and a key figure in shaping Israel’s wartime policy in Gaza. Read more
Uber India has announced that teenagers can now sign up on the app by directly linking their accounts to a parent or guardian. The company also extended Uber One membership benefits to teens, enabling both parents and children to get the same perks. Uber also introduced a new Senior profile where guardians can track rides and other options on the app. For senior citizens, Uber India has also introduced a simplistic layout on its app where the text appears larger and buttons are fewer.
