‘Unanimously elect BJP-backed candidates, get Rs 10 lakh’: Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s offer to villages in KarimnagarUnion Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday said in a post on X that villages under Telangana’s Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, which he represents, would be allotted Rs 10 lakhs each from his MPLADS funds if they elect BJP candidates in rural local body elections.

Telangana’s rural local body elections will be held in three phases on December 11, 14 and 17.

Kumar wrote, “Karimnagar villages: Elect a BJP-backed candidate unanimously and get Rs 10 lakh instantly for development.

“If your village elects a BJP-supported Sarpanch unanimously in Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency, I will directly fund Rs 10 lakh for that village’s development — no delays, no excuses.

“As your Member of Parliament, I have MPLADS funds available. You already know how we’ve brought in crores through CSR and invested them in improving education and healthcare. As a Union Minister, I’ll secure even more central funds to strengthen Panchayat development,” he wrote.

He claimed that the Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress had made similar promises in the past but did not deliver.

“The previous BRS government promised Rs 5 lakh to unanimous Panchayats. Trusting that, nearly 70 villages in the Karimnagar Parliament area elected BRS candidates unanimously. Even after five years, not a single rupee was released by the KCR government.

“Earlier, the Congress government also made similar promises and cheated people in the name of unanimous elections. Those who trusted Congress and BRS ended up suffering financially. Both parties are now preparing to repeat the same deception. I urge the people of Karimnagar not to fall for their words.

“Only the BJP brings real funds. If Congress or BRS-backed candidates win by mistake, new funds will not come, and even central funds may get diverted. Don’t fall for their tricks. Don’t fall for their inducements,” he said.

The post came in for criticism from several BRS- and Congress-affiliated X handles, which accused the Union minister of violating election laws.
