For admission to Class XI in city government schools,a total of 17,200 forms have been purchased,so far,and nearly 700 students have registered online for the admission – the facility which was introduced this year.
There are a total of 11,000 seats in Class XI in 37 government senior secondary schools in the city. The last date to submit forms has been specified as June 20. So far,14,000 students have submitted the forms.
While the private schools in the city had already conducted provisional admissions in April,a majority of students preferred government schools. The schools offer four streams – Science (medical and non-medical),Humanities,Commerce and Vocational Education.
Among all,Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sectors 16,35,37,10,and Manimajra continue to be the most preferred schools.
The allocation of seats will begin after June 20,through a centralised online system of counselling and the merit list with details of allocation of seats in all the 37 senior secondary schools will be available on the website,chdeducation.gov.in,by June 30.
The forms will be available in six government schools – Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sectors 10,19,21,40,46 and Manimajra – from 9 am to 1 pm (till June 20) for Rs120.
The number of preferences of school allowed to students,this year,is 17. Seats will be allotted on the basis of preference and merit of the applicants. Students can choose 15 model schools and two non-model schools. The common merit list will be displayed in the respective schools on June 27. By July 2,students will have to deposit the fees and classes will begin from July 5. In case students wish to change the school,they can submit the form between July 16 to 18 or on August 13 and 14 between 9 am and 1 pm.
