In a bid to ensure smooth conduct of the intermediate and SSC examinations that are scheduled to begin from March 7,the Hyderabad Police have decided to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code around the exam centres.
With a view to maintain public order and peace,Police Commissioner A K Khan has banned assembly of persons (under CrPC Section 144) around 500 yards at all the examination centres,police said.
The prohibitory orders will be in force from March 7 to April 9,a Police Department release said this evening.
Stringent action will be taken against those violating the orders,the Police Commissioner said.
Telangana supporters,including political parties,have organised ‘Million March to Hyderabad’ on March 10 to demand introduction of a Bill in the ongoing Parliament session to grant statehood to Telangana region.
The intermediate exams (Class 12) are scheduled to be held from March 7 to March 25,while the SSC exams are to be held from March 24 to April 9. About 1.40 lakh students are appearing for intermediate exam on March 10 in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
Nearly 8,000 students from the city will take the CBSE exams on the same day. Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathy had yesterday said the AP Government has decided to write to CBSE and ICSE Boards to postpone their exams scheduled on March 10 in view of the ‘Million March’.
