A 26-year-old man from Delhi died in Goa on Sunday, a day after he fell unconscious during an electronic dance music (EDM) festival, police said.

Police said they got a call Sunday morning from a hospital in Mapusa, Goa, informing them that the patient, identified as Karan Kashyap from Rohini in Delhi, was declared dead in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.

“It was revealed during inquiry with his friends that he…had attended the Sunburn EDM party on Saturday at Dhargal, Pernem, in Goa. At approximately 9.45 pm, the deceased became unconscious during the event. He was immediately transported to Vision Hospital, Mapusa, by ambulance for medical treatment. Despite undergoing treatment, he passed away.” North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal said in a statement.

Police said the cause of death is yet to be ascertained and that the viscera and other samples have been preserved for chemical analysis.

SP Kaushal said, “The postmortem is being conducted at Goa Medical College and necessary legal action will be taken if any foul play is noticed.”

Police said the man worked in the IT sector.
