K P Pawar,the new lawyer defending Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case,has been given special security,police said on Thursday. Pawar has been provided with a police jeep with four armed guards round-the-clock.
Earlier reports said Pawar had been provided ‘Z’ security,however police later clarified it was special security cover that he was given as per orders of the court.
This is the first time that Pawar,who had been assisting Azmi before he was removed as the chief defence counsel,has been provided security. Earlier,Kazmi was provided the same security cover which he continues to enjoy even today.
Pawar was given security early this week after he took over as the main defence lawyer from Abbas Kazmi,informed an official.

Pawar commutes from his residence to the court and back in the police jeep with armed guards,the official said. Besides Pawar,Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and Judge M L Tahiliyani have also been provided special security.
