Orissa law minister shot at in Puri

Orissa law, tourism and culture minister Maheswar Mohanty was injured after an assailant in Puri shot at him twice when he was returning home on Friday evening.

Puri SP Anup Kumar Sahoo said the senior BJD leader was riding a scooter near Amala Club when the unknown person fired at him. Two bullets hit his right hand and waist. Mohanty has been shifted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors said he was out of danger. Mohanty was not with his PSO when he was attacked.

BJD leader Ramakrushna Dasmohapatra alleged that the attack was a conspiracy by Mohanty’s political rivals.
