No more ornaments and bags for gate crashers

Madho Singh and Kappi residents of Delhi involved in more than 100 cases of theft are arrested.

They would gate-crash parties and steal ornaments and money from the host and guests with the help of their children but landed in the police net.

Madho Singh (21) and Kappi (36),who were involved in more than 100 cases of theft in Delhi and NCR,were arrested on Thursday,police said.

A gold and diamond necklace,four pairs of golden ear rings gold tops,gold bracelet,five expensive mobile phones,a digital camera and a purse were recovered from their posession,they said.

During interrogation,they confessed that most of the recovered booty or articles were from thefts recently committed by them were in the area of Anand Vihar,Dayanand Vihar and Pitampura.

Police said Madho is the mastermind of the gang who along with his accomplices had committed more than 100 thefts in the marriage functions or parties in various parts of Delhi and NCR during marriage season.

They also targeted people in shopping malls who were carrying bags containing valuables by deviating their attention.

“They used to enter the function and would target the host

who used to carry the bags containing huge cash or jewellery.

Besides,they also target ladies who carry bags. In most of the incidents,they used their own children. The children used to pick the bag or other valuables and pass over the same to the gang members,” a senior police official said.

After committing 10-12 incidents of thefts,accused Madho used to go to Madhya Pradesh to dispose of the stolen property and would come back to Delhi.

On a particular night,they used to hire a private taxi or auto rickshaw and would target 3-4 functions in the same area.
