NIA arrests Burdwan Blast accused Rezaul Karim in Jharkhand

He was engaged in manufacturing and transport of bombs to different locations.

The National Investigation Agency Saturday arrested a key Burdwan blast accused from Sahebganj in Jharkhand. Rejaul Karim, on whom a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh had been announced by the NIA, is believed to be in-charge of transporting explosives to various places in Burdwan.

Rejaul, a suspected operative of banned terror outfit Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh, was hiding in Jharkhand since the blast at a house in Burdwan on October 2, the NIA said. The terror probe agency had recovered 39 bombs from Rejaul’s rented house at Badsahi road in Burdwan.

“Rejaul Karim stayed in Badshahi Road of Burdwan and was a very close associate of Kauser alias Boma Mizan and other main accused persons wanted in Burdwan blast case,” an NIA statement said. Boma Mizan is accused in more than 20 cases of explosives in Bangladesh.

After the blast at the Khagragarh house in which two alleged bomb-makers were killed, accused Abdul Hakim had allegedly called up Rejaul to help him escape.
