Molested by driver, student jumps off auto

The driver was arrested after a woman passing by on a two-wheeler chased him and had him caught by the locals.

The incident was reported under Colonelganj police station area of the city on Sunday morning. According to the police, the driver, identified as Santosh Jaiswal (30) of Mutthiganj area, was caught near Tara Chand Hostel of Allaha-bad University. “A case under section 354 of the IPC has been filed against Jaiswal on the basis of the victim’s complaint,” Inspector R K Singh said.

In her complaint, the 22-year-old told the police that she had gone to a school in Rambagh area where her brother had to take an exam. After dropping him she took an autorickshaw to return to her accommodation near Salori area.

Near the district court premises, all the passengers, barring the victim, got down. The driver then allegedly began misbehaving with her and passing lewd remarks. “The girl asked the driver to stop but he did not. The victim jumped out of the vehicle after going barely a kilometre. She sustained injuries on her knees, arms and face,” said the police.
