The Maharashtra Government is acting on the recommendations of the Ram Pradhan panel report on the Mumbai terror attacks and would make it public at an appropriate time,Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Wednesday.
“I am sure the Maharashtra government will make the report public,” he told reporters at Congress office in Mumbai.
Responding to a query about the state government stone-walling attempts to make the report public,Chidambaram said,”I don’t think they are hiding it (the report). To the best of my knowledge, the Chief Minister has said action is being taken on the report and at an appropriate time it will be made public.”
The report focuses on practical aspects of handling the situation during the four-day Mumbai attacks.
Elaborating on the measures taken to boost security after he took over as Home Minister,Chidambaram said “We are a strong country, our security systems are stronger and safer.”
“Mumbai and Pune are much safer now than they were some time ago,” he said, adding “our security preparedness will only get better.” The minister said police force was being modernised, more personnel were being recruited and latest weapons provided to the force.
