M Natarajan, husband of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s estranged aide Sasikala, was booked along with five others in a cheating case, police said.
Police arrested three persons, including Natarajan’s personal assistant Anantha Krishnan and Chelladurai,father-in-law of his nephew,in connection with the case filed on a complaint by a city-based real estate developer.
This is the second case filed against Natarajan, already arrested in a land grabbing case last month and remanded to judicial custody.
Police effected formal arrest of Natarajan in the cheating case at the central prison, where he has been lodged since his detention on February 18.
The three arrested were produced before a magistrate court on Friday which remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.
Complainant Varadharajan had alleged that the six accused had promised to sell seven acres of land on the city outskirts, purportedly owned by Natarajan,to him in 2007 and took Rs 1.6 crore. However, neither the land was registered in his name nor the money returned,he charged.
