CISF jawan shoots dead three colleagues at Kalpakkam nuclear power plant

Head constable Vijay Prathap Singh, who opened the fire, has been arrested and now being interrogated.

Three CISF soldiers were killed and two severely injured after a colleague opened fire on Wednesday morning at the Kalpakkam nuclear power plant, 80 km south of Chennai.

Though the reasons behind the firing is yet to be ascertained, head constable Vijay Prathap Singh, who opened the fire, has been arrested and now being interrogated.

A senior police officer at Kancheepuram said the incident happened at around 5.15 am at the nuclear establishment. “He used his service rifle, a 9mm carbine weapon, to shoot his colleagues. An assistant sub inspector Ganesan, head constables Subburaj, and Mohan Singh were killed at the spot. Another assistant sub inspector, Pratap Singh, and head constable Govardhan Singh are injured and being treated at a private hospital near Chennai city,” the officer said.

The Kancheepuram district police has registered a case and started investigation.
