The body of a 27-year-old BPO executive was found near the Akshardham Metro station around 11.30 pm on Tuesday.
Police said Rohit was a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase-III and worked at a BPO in Nehru Place. He used to take Outer Mudrika towards Mayur Vihar and walk to his house every night around 11 pm. The Metro station did not fall on his usual route.
We rushed to the spot after receiving a call to find the man lying in a pool of blood. His body had been disfigured and it seems that he was attacked with a sharp object. He also had a deep wound on his thigh, a senior police officer said.
Rohits family told police he had never been involved in any fights and they did not suspect anyone.
It appears that Rohit was taken to the Akshardham area by force. We are trying to speak to the eyewitnesses and will question some of his friends and colleagues to ascertain the sequence of events, police said.
Police has ruled out robbery as the motive for murder.
We have recovered his bag,Rs 700 cash and his mobile phone that was lying next to his body. All his belongings and valuables were intact and hence we rule out robbery to be the motive behind the murder. It may be a case of personal enmity. We are probing all angles, police said.
A case of murder has been registered.
