
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has isolated herself after contracting Covid, the party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said on Thursday.
Surjewala said the Congress chief experienced mild fever on Wednesday evening. Some of the party leaders and activists she met over the past week have also tested positive, he added.

“As a large number of Congressmen and women and well-wishers have expressed concern, we want to say she is fine and recovering. We thank everyone for their good wishes,” Surjewala tweeted.

Surjewala, however, added the Congress chief will get herself tested for Covid again and that “her plan of visiting the ED stands.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished a speedy recovery to Congress president Sonia Gandhi from Covid-19. “Wishing Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji a speedy recovery from COVID-19,” he tweeted on Thursday.
AICC general secretary KC Venugopal had also tested positive for Covid-19 a couple of days ago.
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday summoned Sonia to appear before it on June 8 in the National Herald money laundering case. It had also summoned Rahul Gandhi in the on June 2, but he is not in India.
