Chhattisgarh Maoist encounter: CRPF jawan, civilian killed in Bijapur

One CRPF jawan has been killed in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Friday.

One CRPF jawan was killed and two injured in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Friday. An encounter broke out after Maoists opened fire at the forces. A woman civilian was also killed, while a school-going student was injured in the attack.

The jawan was from the 199 Battalion of the CRPF.

The injured were taken to Bhairamgarh CHC, which is eight kilometres away.

Sources told The Indian Express that a pickup had gone to Keshkutul to fetch people for the Bhairamgarh market. The pickup ferrying kids was returning at the same time as the jawans were passing by on patrol on motorcycles.
