The fourth round of talks between Ladakh and the Centre remained inconclusive with Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance stating that the meeting on Monday produced no “concrete” results.

Representatives from the two socio-political bodies from the Ladakh region also met Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi on Monday after talks with ministry officials earlier in the day failed to make any headway. This was the first meeting of the Ladakh groups with the Home Minister since 2020.

Sources, who were at the meeting, told The Indian Express that the ministry has refused to engage on core matters of statehood and protections under the Sixth Schedule for Ladakh. “First, the ministry officials and then the Home Minister, have refused to engage with us on the matter,” the source said.
