CBI Additional Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Gurm Wednesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking to implead him as a party in the pending plea by the agency’s Special Director Rakesh Asthana, who has sought quashing of an FIR against him in a bribery case.

Three separate petitions of Asthana, Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar and alleged middleman Manoj Prasad seeking to quash the FIR against them are scheduled to be heard Thursday. Kumar was given bail by the trial court Wednesday.

The high court had earlier ordered a status quo till Thursday in the criminal proceedings against Asthana in connection with the FIR against him.

Seeking dismissal of Asthana’s plea, Gurm said that the CBI’s Special Director was misleading the court by “selectively placing relevant facts for the kind consideration of this court”.
