Case against fake PMO officer who duped people
The complainant, Ashish Chand, a Shahdara-based resident, complained on a grievance portal of the Union government that Patel was claiming to be posted in the department which looks after intelligence in the PMO and fooling people by saying that he works with NTRO.
“Patel is duping people by saying that he works at a very sensitive position and can get all the tenders… He has been taking money from people in the name of PMO. People do not complain even if he does not get any work done after taking money because of his position,” Chand alleged.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR against a man, for allegedly posing as an officer in the Prime Minister’s Office working in the tech-surveillance agency National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) and duping people, supposedly with the help of a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.
The CBI lodged an FIR against Pawan Patel on July 20 on a six-month-old reference from the PMO where a complaint was made against Patel for masquerading as a PMO officer and seeking money from people in exchange for help in getting contracts. The complainant has alleged that a retired IRS officer of the 1986 batch helped Patel take the money.
“Anil Kumar Sharma, Assistant Director in PMO, had forwarded a complaint for initiating an investigation in the matter alleging that one Pawan Patel is impersonating an employee of PMO and involved in fraudulent activities. The allegations levelled in the complaint prima-facie disclose commission of offences under IPC Section of 170,” the FIR stated.
