Cabinet clears new 11-km corridor of Lucknow Metro

The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a new 11km corridor of Lucknow Metro that will improve connectivity to the commercial hubs, tourist attractions, healthcare facilities and culinary destinations.

At a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet approved the Phase 1-B of the Lucknow Metro rail project. In all, the corridor will have 12 stations, covering 11.165km, and once complete, it will take the total network in the city to 34km.

“Phase-1B of the Lucknow Metro project will introduce approximately 11.165 Km of new metro lines, significantly improving public transportation in the oldest and most densely populated areas of the city, which currently lack efficient connectivity. This phase aims to seamlessly integrate key zones of Old Lucknow,” a government statement said.
