Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s chopper was denied permission by the administration to land in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, resulting in the cancellation of a rally at Bahrampur.
However, Chouhan addressed the second “Ganatantra Bachao rally” at Kharagpur after travelling by road and lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee government, saying the BJP would not stop till the TMC was ousted from power.
“The more you (Mamata) try and stop us, more often shall we come to Bengal,” PTI quoted Chouhan as saying.
Another senior BJP leader Arjun Munda was not given permission by the administration in West Bengal to hold a meeting and address a rally in Bishnupur town in Bankura district. “No reason was given (by the administration),” Munda told reporters.
Munda said he had to return to Jamshedpur, about 161 km from Bishnupur, without addressing the rally.
However, Bankura Superintendent of Police Koteswara Rao Nalavat reasoned that in view of TMC leader and Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee’s scheduled meeting at Onda, about 22km from Bankura town, there was lack of adequate security and hence Munda was denied permission.
