The Opposition Left Front Friday accused the BJP of trying to use the Pahalgam terror attack to incite people against a religious community and attack CPI(M) party offices in different parts of Tripura.
In a letter addressed to the additional director general of police, the Left Front sought his intervention in identifying and arresting miscreants involved in the attacks on party offices.
Addressing media persons in Agartala, Left Front convener and former minister Manik Dey said BJP-backed miscreants ransacked their party office and assaulted six Left workers at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district on April 25. The miscreants then allegedly attacked the house of a retired government teacher and CPI(M) supporter.
“We have lodged cases, but no arrest has been made yet,” said Dey.
The Left Front also said that the installation of a statue of Lord Ram at a spot in Kailashahar where a statue of former deputy chief minister Baidyanath Majumder stood earlier has caused anguish to democratic-minded people in the state. The statue was demolished after the BJP came to power in 2018.
