BAPS Swaminarayan Temple vandalised in San Francisco; Indian Consulate urges immediate action

The temple in Sacramento was allegedly vandalised on Tuesday night, less than 10 days after a similar incident at the BAPS temple in New York.

BAPS Hindu temple vandalism: The Consulate General of India in San Francisco (CGISFO) has strongly condemned the recent act of vandalism on the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple located in Sacramento, California.

In an official statement late Thursdaythe CGI strongly deplored the act of vandalism which took place on Tuesday (September 24) night. It has taken up the matter with local authorities to take immediate action against those responsible, the post on read.

The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Sacramento was allegedly vandalised on Tuesday night, less than 10 days after a similar incident at the BAPS temple in New York.

According to a post by the BAPS Public Affairs team, graffiti with anti-Hindu messages were found on the temple walls. “Less than 10 days after the desecration of the @BAPS Mandir in New York, our Mandir in the Sacramento, CA area was desecrated last night with anti-Hindu hate. We stand united against hate with prayers for peace,” the post read.

On September 17, a similar incident was reported at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple located in Melville, New York.

The consulate had then informed the US law enforcement agencies for an immediate action against the perpetrators of the “heinous act”.

Earlier in July, the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Edmonton, Canada was “defaced with anti-India graffiti and slurs”.
