First Onam Bank Holiday Today 2025: On account of First Onam, public-sector banks (PSBs) and private banking institutions will be closed today, Thursday, September 4, as designated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its 2025 holiday calendar.
Bank holidays in India are determined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Negotiable Instruments Act, including RTGS holidays and other regional and national holidays. Additionally, there are mandatory weekly days off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
In September, there are a total of 15 bank holidays designated for September 2025, following the RBI calendar for the year 2025.
It’s important to note that banks in only one Indian city will observe closure, and the remaining will be operational as usual. Below is the table of bank status for today, Thursday, September 4, 2025:
