With five days to go to the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the idol of Ram Lalla sculpted by Arjun Yogiraj will be placed in the Sanctum Sanctorum on Thursday.
The idol was gently lowered into the ‘grabh grah’ or sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple with the help of a crane early Thursday morning. Later in the day, the idol will be placed on a throne following ‘mandap pravesh’ rituals. A Ganeshambika Pujan will be carried out. This will include the chanting of the ‘Ayushmantra’.
After performing ‘Jaladhivas’ (cleansing the idol with water) and ‘Gandhadivas’ (showering it with a different essence), the priests will perform an ‘arti’ of the new idol on Thursday evening. Prior to this, five ingredients of Panchgavya — milk, ghee, cow dung, gau mutra, and curd — will be used to purify the throne.
This comes a day after the idol was brought to the temple and taken on a tour of the premises. It was placed at the gate of the ‘Grabh Grah’ or Sanctum Sanctorum. The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ rituals will conclude on 21st January, a day prior to the inauguration of the Ram Temple.
