Khera also shared images of documents that purportedly showed properties in her name in the UAE and a company registered in Wyoming, United States, which he said were not disclosed in Sarma’s affidavit.
The Election Commission of India flagged off the International Visitors' Programme 2026. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the Commission treats elections as "festivals of democracy."
In the first phase of the programme, 43 delegates from 23 countries will visit Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry on April 8 and 9. Campaigning for the Puducherry Assembly elections ended on Tuesday. A single-phase election will be held across the Union Territory for all 30 Assembly seats on April 9.
During the launch of the Congress manifesto for West Bengal, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the TMC and the BJP are two sides of the same coin.
"As (Mallikarjun) Kharge ji stated, the way to be free from BJP's path of polarisation and hatred and from the deficiencies of the present governance, the Congress has shown the third way," He said.
"The TMC and the BJP are two sides of the same coin, and a new coin is needed in West Bengal. Need to do away with the old coin with TMC and BJP on the two sides," Ramesh added.

Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Kerala will witness change after the April 9 elections.
"We are very, very confident that the people will give us a clear mandate to bring change to Kerala, which the LDF and the UDF have not been able to do for the last years," said Chandrasekhar.

TVK party chief and actor Vijay is set to campaign in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin on April 8 according to party general secretary N Anand.
"Exact schedule and places will be informed later through the TVK website once permission is secured from the police." However, he said it is not yet clear whether there will be a road show in Tirunelveli or not.
"He will also be going to Tuticorin to meet his fans and cadres, but he will not be addressing the gathering there," Anand said.

Ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections on April 9, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that voting for the BJP would be of no point. He said that it would be waste of votes, as the party has no chance of coming to power in the state.
Tharoor said, "With all respect to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, they are not going to rule in Kerala and their party does not have the credibility to utilise their appeal to get very many seats. Frankly, they are a zero-seat party in the Assembly right now.
"If at all they can get one or two or three, it will be a miracle for them. And therefore, they are not a factor in government formation."
He added that while the Congress and CPI (M) are allies in some parts of the country, the political reality in Kerala is different.

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar predicted a Congress-led UDF victory in the upcoming Kerala polls.
"Some of our Ministers, legislators and I have campaigned in Kerala. There is confidence that we (UDF) will secure a two-third majority there. People are fed up with 10 years of LDF rule as there has not been any progress and the state has also suffered financially," said Shivakumar.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar claimed that people in Kerala are fed up with the Left government.

The Assam election campaign ended at 5 pm on April 7. The single-phase election for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held on April 9.
During poll rallies, BJP highlighted its initiatives, including land ownership rights for tea workers, women empowerment schemes, financial assistance for girl students and, claimed 84 percent reduction in child marriage.
The Congress, on the other hand, pitched for justice for Zubeen Garg, women financial assistance, a health insurance scheme for the public, and protection of indigenous land rights among other promises.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's remarks targeting him, in which Reddy said, "Nee po mone Vijaya," and claimed that Vijayan's "time is over" and that his "expiry date has passed" during a roadshow on April 1 in the Nemom constituency.

Shashi Tharoor, while talking about how the law must faith into account, referred to the controversy over the Sabarimala temple entry of women of menstruating age.
Tharoor said the Left government has realised its mistake and that "an important lesson has been learned by the LDF government."
He said that one cannot act blindly without considering specific wishes and faith of the people. "We all support the Constitution. We all respect the Supreme Court. But the Constitution and the court serve a society where people have rather profound beliefs," said Tharoor.
"You may quarrel about the belief and you may say the belief is one thing or another. But the truth is faith has always had yardsticks that are different because faith rests on belief and not on law," Tharoor added. Over half of the voters flagged during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal have been deleted after adjudication, according to the Election Commission’s first such data. Congress General Secretary and MP K C Venugopal on Monday wrote an open letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, a senior CPI(M) leader heading the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the state, raising 10 questions on his government’s record.
In the letter, Venugopal alleged that Vijayan held meetings with senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and Nitin Gadkari, and questioned whether these were part of a “deal”. He also flagged issues such as the PM SHRI scheme, labour codes, the SNC-Lavalin case, and other controversies, seeking a public response from the Chief Minister.
West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC candidate Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked party workers to maintain round-the-clock surveillance on EVMs, alleging possible attempts at tampering during the election process.

BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa on Monday downplayed Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi’s criticism, claiming it would have little impact on the ground ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.

BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday supported the deployment of Central forces in West Bengal, saying their presence was essential to ensure “free and fair” elections.
Speaking ahead of the Assembly polls, Ghosh said the CRPF would be deployed wherever required, adding that both the BJP and “every citizen of Bengal” want an environment where people can vote without fear.
He said the Election Commission would take the final call on deployment based on requirements, stressing that Central forces help create conditions for peaceful voting.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday warned of “repercussions” for the Congress over its allegations against his family, as the political row over the passport controversy intensified ahead of the Assembly polls.

Public campaigning for the April 9 Kerala Assembly polls will end on Tuesday. Congress, the BJP, and the ruling LDF have intensified attacks on each other, while the LDF released a progress report claiming it has fulfilled 97 per cent of its 2021 promises.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Monday alleged a decline in Kerala's higher education sector, linking it to rising unemployment, student migration, and a growing drug menace, while targeting the LDF government.
Addressing a press conference here, she said that while Kerala remains India's most literate state, the situation in higher education is "deeply concerning".
Shrinate was in Kochi as Kerala prepares to vote for 140 Assembly seats on April 9.
"Student migration has doubled since 2020, with nearly 2.5 lakh students leaving the state for better opportunities. This shows our institutions are not keeping pace with national and global standards," she claimed.
Shrinate alleged that many colleges were turning into "degree factories" and noted that 40 to 50 per cent of undergraduate seats remained vacant despite claims of expansion. (PTI)

The ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal seeks to synchronise Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, while the UCC aims to introduce a common set of laws on matters such as marriage, adoption and inheritance.
Modi also targeted the Congress, saying BJP workers had faced hardships during the Emergency and “oppression” in several states. He cited instances of political violence in West Bengal and Kerala, alleging that such incidents had become part of the political culture in those regions.
Highlighting the BJP’s record, Modi listed measures such as the abrogation of “outdated” colonial-era laws, the construction of the new Parliament building, 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections, the ban on triple talaq, the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Calling the BJP an organisation driven by its cadre, Modi said the party’s foundation day was an “emotional occasion” for workers and a moment to reaffirm their commitment to public service.

Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal on Monday launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, alleging that the DMK was pushing a “false narrative” ahead of the Assembly elections.
Speaking in Chennai, Goyal challenged Stalin to produce evidence of permissions for a purported Prime Minister’s roadshow, and questioned claims around the National Education Policy (NEP), asserting that it nowhere mandates Hindi as a compulsory language.
He said Tamil remains a matter of pride and emphasised that the BJP supports learning in the mother tongue while respecting regional traditions.
Goyal also dismissed the DMK’s electoral prospects, stating that “false promises” would not make Udhayanidhi Stalin the Chief Minister, and backed AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami as the NDA’s future CM face in Tamil Nadu.

Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday flagged “love jihad” as a key issue, saying his party would explore bringing in a legal framework if voted to power in the state.
Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, Chandrasekhar claimed there were instances of women being lured and trafficked, but acknowledged that there is currently no legal definition of the term. He said a BJP government would work towards defining what constitutes a crime and what does not.
In a separate remark, he also targeted Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that the party was “known for land grabbing”, while adding that he would not pay attention to Kharge’s statements.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader D K Shivakumar on Monday attacked the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, questioning its development record ahead of the Assembly polls.
Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, Shivakumar alleged that “around 25 lakh youngsters” are attempting to leave the state every year, claiming it reflected a lack of opportunities under the LDF government.
He asked what the LDF had delivered in terms of development, as political campaigning intensifies in the run-up to the elections.

Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday targeted Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that his party is “known for land grabbing”.
Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, he also said he would not pay attention to Kharge’s remarks, as political exchanges between the BJP and Congress intensified ahead of the Assembly polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged all political parties to support the Women’s Reservation Bill, saying the Centre has called a special session of Parliament from April 16 to advance the legislation.
Addressing a rally in Barpeta, Assam, he said the move aims to strengthen the rights of women and dismissed concerns over representation, asserting that no state would be disadvantaged. He also appealed to women voters to press political leaders to ensure the Bill is passed unanimously.

The DMK on Monday stepped up its campaign in Tiruchirappalli, with party leader and minister K N Nehru inaugurating the campaign office for the Tiruchirappalli West constituency.
Launching the office at Thillai Nagar, Nehru paid tributes to Periyar, C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi, as leaders and cadres of the Secular Progressive Alliance gathered to signal campaign momentum.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday alleged that the Congress used “AI-Photoshopped” images to level allegations against his wife, calling the documents fake.
He said the original UAE passport image was uploaded on social media by a Pakistani user and claimed that altered versions were circulated to support the allegations.
