
Assembly Bypoll Election Results 2022 Live Updates, November 06, 2022: BJP candidate Bhavya Bishnoi has emerged victorious in the Adampur Assembly byelection with a significant margin of 16,606 votes. In Gola Gokarannath, BJP candidate Aman Giri won by defeating his nearest rival and Samajwadi Party candidate by over 34,000 votes, news agency PTI reported. The saffron party also retained Gopalganj constituency in Bihar. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) retained the Mokama Assembly seat of Bihar. As the counting of votes progresses, BJP’s Suryabanshi Suraj is leading in Dhamnagar constituency. According to PTI, Rutuja Latke, the candidate of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), won the bypoll to Andheri (East) Assembly seat in Mumbai. TRS’ Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy is currently leading in Telangana’s Munugode.
Most seats witnessed a fierce contest between the BJP and regional parties such as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). Among the seven seats where bypolls were held, the BJP held three seats and the Congress two, while the Shiv Sena and the RJD had one each.
The bypoll in Adampur was necessitated after former sitting MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned from the Vidhan Sabha in August to switch from the Congress to the BJP. Andheri East contest was held due to the untimely death of Sena MLA Ramesh Latke. The Mokama seat, in Bihar, fell vacant after Anant Singh, the sitting MLA, was dismissed due to a conviction in a criminal case. The contest in Gopalganj, also in Bihar, was necessitated due to the death of sitting BJP MLA Subhash Singh. Munugode witnessed a bypoll after sitting MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy resigned on August 2. The bypoll was necessitated in Gola Gokarannath Assembly seat of Lakhimpur Kheri district following the death of sitting MLA Arvind Giri, while Dhamnagar seat fell vacant due to the untimely demise of sitting BJP MLA Bishnu Charan Das.
Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay, after losing the Munugode bypoll to TRS, Sunday said, "We'll respect the verdict of the people of Munugode. BJP candidate Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy fought this election like a hero. No matter how many threats were made by the ruling party, BJP workers worked unyieldingly."
"This win is not a win. Munugode Bypoll is election commissioner's win. TRS distributed money, but it wasn't found anywhere. BJP is the party that has guts to stop TRS. BJP has its presence all over Telangana. We'll work with more commitment with aim of development," Bandi Sanjay added.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar on Sunday said Rutuja Latke of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) won the Andheri (East) Assembly bypoll here because his party did not field a candidate against her. Speaking to reporters, he said the Thackeray-led Sena could not increase its vote share despite having the support of the Congress and National Congress Party (NCP).Congratulating Latke, Shelar said, "Had BJP contested the election, they (Maha Vikas Aghadi combine) would have lost for sure."
Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule also downplayed the victory of the Thackeray camp, claiming that the result was a foregone conclusion the moment his party decided not to field a candidate in the bypoll.He brushed aside any role of the BJP in the sizable NOTA (none of the above) votes polled in the bypoll. "Once the BJP withdraws from the fray, it will not indulge in such activities like casting NOTA votes," Bawankule asserted.
NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto said, "Shelar and BJP's reaction that 'had we contested the Andheri East Assembly by-election, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) candidate Rutuja Latke's defeat was certain' is like the fox who said 'grapes are sour' when he could not get them because they was out of his reach." Rutuja Latke won the bypoll by bagging more than 66,000 votes, followed by 12,806 votes polled in favour of the None Of The Above (NOTA) option. The November 3 byelection, necessitated due to the death of sitting Shiv Sena MLA and her husband Ramesh Latke in May this year, was a mere formality after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) withdrew its candidate - Murji Patel - from the race. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Sunday said the result of the byelection to the Andheri (East) constituency here showed that people rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party's "politics of horse-trading and terrorising political opponents".
Rutuja Latke, the candidate of the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunday won the bypoll by bagging more than 66,000 votes. The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the constituents of the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Uddhav Thackeray, had supported Latke's candidature. Talking to reporters after Latke's win, Patole expressed confidence that the Congress and its allies would defeat the BJP in the coming elections. (PTI)
The opposition BJP on Sunday retained the Dhamnagar assembly seat of Odisha in a bypoll, defeating the ruling BJD by a margin of 9,881, an Election Commission official said. The bypoll was necessitated by the death of BJP MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi in September.
Sethi's son Suryabanshi Suraj, who was the party's candidate, secured 80,351 votes, while BJD's Abanti Das bagged 70,470 votes, the official said. Congress nominee Baba Harekrushna Sethi got only 3,561 votes. (PTI)
Election Commission of India on Sunday declared the winners of Gopalganj and Mokama bypoll. As per the EC, BJP won by margin of 1,794 votes from RJD's Mohan Prasad Gupta in Gopalganj. BJP got 700053 votes as against RJD's 68,259 votes.
Meanwhile, in Mokama, RJD candidate Neelam Devi (79,646 votes) defeated BJP's Sonam Devi (62,939 votes) by 16,707 votes. BSP got 8,854 votes and AIMIM got 12,214 votes. (ENS)
The ruling TRS in Telangana appeared to be heading for a victory in the high-voltage Munugode bypoll as its lead over the BJP widened after 12 rounds of counting of votes on Sunday. TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy cumulatively secured 82,025 votes after 12 rounds, while his nearest BJP rival Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy got 74,224 votes.
Congress nominee Palvai Sravanthi polled 21,243 votes. Counting for the bypoll would be completed after 15 rounds.
TRS workers burst into celebrations at the party headquarters here as their candidate continued to lead over the BJP rival. The process of counting of votes polled in the byelection to the Munugode Assembly constituency in Nalgonda district began on Sunday morning amid tight security. (PTI)

The victory of Rutuja Latke in the Andheri (East) Assembly bypoll shows people are supporting Shiv Sena, party president Uddhav Thackeray said on Sunday. Latke, who contested the byelection as the candidate of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction with the support of NCP and Congress, has emerged victorious.
"This is just the beginning of a fight. The (party) symbol is important but people look for the character too. The bypoll results show people support us," Thackeray told reporters after Rutuja Latke called on him at his residence 'Matoshree' after the victory. He said the name of Shiv Sena and the party symbol (bow and arrow) were frozen (by the Election Commission) ahead of this election.
"This victory is a beginning of a fight. I appeal to Shiv Sainiks to fight unitedly for all future battles. Our party's name and symbol were frozen for this election but those who wanted this are nowhere near the electoral ring," Thackeray said in a veiled swipe at the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj expanded his lead to 6,755 votes over his BJD rival Abanti Das for Dhamnagar bypoll in Odisha's Bhadrak district, Election Commission (EC) trends revealed on Sunday. According to the EC, Suraj secured 58,332 votes after the 13th round of counting, while Das bagged 51,577. Congress nominee Baba Harekrushna Sethi got 2,602 votes.
An election official said a three-tier security arrangement is in place for the counting exercise. A central supervisor, an assistant supervisor and a micro-observer are present along with party agents at the counting centre, the official said. (PTI)
Rutuja Latke met Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree in Bandra after her win in the by poll. Thackeray congratulated her and thanked NCP, Congress, Sambhaji Brigade and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, along with other parties, for showing their support.
'They had taken away our party symbol and name citing this election, but I am glad we won with such a huge margin. I thank the Congress, NCP, Sambhaji Brigade and Vanchit Bahujan Agahadi, along with others, for supporting us in this election.,'
Uddhav said, while adding :'I happy that the battle has started with a victory and we will win in the future as well.'While hitting out at BJP, Thackeray said ,'It is clear that there was a use of NOTA in the elections... This was the first electoral contest in Maharashtra after the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government collapsed in June following a revolt by a section of Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde. Shinde subsequently became chief minister in an alliance with the BJP. (PTI)

BJP candidate Kusum Devi, wife MLA Subhash Singh whose death had necessitated the by-election, polled 70,032 votes, while RJD's Mohan Gupta got 68,243.
Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM and Mayawati's BSP, often accused of being the BJP's "B team" by the RJD, finished third and fourth respectively, together accounting for more than 20,000 votes.
Notably, BSP candidate Indira Yadav is the wife of Sadhu Yadav, younger brother of RJD president Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi. Sadhu Yadav had won the seat in 2000. (PTI)
BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar Sunday congratulated Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena candidate Rutuja Latke. "Latke's victory is with the BJPs help. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) did not mobilise more votes. Had the BJP contested the byelection, the Shiv Sena candidate would have lost. So, it should realise that Rutuja Latke's win is with the help of BJP," Shelar said.
When the 19th round of counting ended in Andheri (East), the total number of votes received by Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena’s Rutuja Latke reached 66,247. NOTA has received 12,776 votes so far.
BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj widened his lead to 4,845 votes over his BJD rival Abanti Das for Dhamnagar bypoll in Odisha's Bhadrak district, Election Commission (EC) trends revealed on Sunday.
According to the EC, Suraj secured 45,321 votes after the 10th round of counting, while Das bagged 40,476.

As the counting of votes in Telangana's Munugode progresses, TRS’ Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy is leading with 38,521 votes (41.23%). BJP's Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy is currently trailing with 36,352 votes (38.91%).
