Armed miscreants allegedly launched an attack at a temporary post of the 3 Assam Rifles along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district early Friday morning.
While multiple sources said at least four Assam Rifles jawans have been injured in the attack, there is no official confirmation at the time of filing this report.
The police said the incident occurred in the Saibol area, over 40 km on the eastern side of the Tengnoupal district headquarters.
A senior police officer in the district said they were trying to establish official confirmation regarding the incident with Assam Rifles. “The connectivity in the area is poor, being a remote area situated near the border. Nevertheless, we are doing our best,” the officer said.
A senior Army official said, “As the operation is still ongoing, we are unable to provide detailed information. We will soon come out with an interim statement once the operation is over.”
