Following a request by the Centre, four Twitter handles have been suspended for allegedly spreading anti-India messages on the micro-blogging platform.
Suspension of eight such accounts was requested by the government, and the remaining ones are also expected to be taken off, officials said.
According to government officials, the request to suspend the accounts was made as these profiles were “spreading rumours and misinformation to disturb the peace and calm in the Valley”.
