Ahead of Global Investors Summit, Uttarakhand inks MoUs worth Rs 54,550 crore

Back in India after a two-day UAE visit, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that investment MoUs worth Rs 15,475 crore were signed in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

With less than two months to go for the Global Investors Summit scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand in December, the government has signed investment MoUs worth Rs 54,550 crore so far, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said. The Uttarakhand government is targeting investments worth over Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

“Many agreements have been signed with investors in the fields of tourism, health, education, pharma and agriculture. Investors are attracted to come to Uttarakhand and invest. Agreements on investments worth thousands of crores have been signed in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Apart from this, many proposals have also been received. Dialogues and roadshows will be held with investors in other cities also,” Dhami said.

Dhami was speaking to the media in New Delhi after his return from UAE. Under the Uttarakhand Global Investor Summit, meetings were first held with various investor groups in London, Birmingham and Delhi, and now in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, he added.

“Whatever agreements have been signed and proposals have come, which are useful for the state and can be beneficial in the future, further work will be done after fully assessing them. Along with investment, proposals and agreements that provide employment to local people and strengthen the primary sector will be encouraged on a priority basis. The policies made by the state government are formed keeping in mind the interests of investors, industries, and the people of Uttarakhand,” he said.

Dhami said that the state government will put in effort to implement all the agreements made so far. Whatever suggestions are being received in various meetings will also be implemented, he added.

Dhami said that during the two-day UAE visit, investment MoUs worth Rs 15,475 crore were signed. Under these, MoUs worth Rs 1,1925 crore were signed in Dubai on the first day, and MoUs worth Rs 3,550 crore were inked in Abu Dhabi on the second day.

In total, investment MoUs worth Rs 54,550 crore have been signed so far in UAE, Britain and Delhi. These include MoUs worth Rs 15,475 crore in UAE, Rs 12,500 crore in Britain, and Rs 26,575 crore in two different programmes in Delhi.

The Global Investors Summit in Uttarakhand will be held on December 8 and 9 this year.
