Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will visit India on September 9 (Monday) at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Accompanied by several UAE government ministers and a business delegation, Sheikh Khaled’s two-day visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

On the first day, the Crown Prince will meet with PM Modi to discuss a broad range of areas of bilateral cooperation. Following the discussions, he will call on President Droupadi Murmu and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

On the second day, he will travel to Mumbai to participate in a Business Forum, where leaders from both India and the UAE will collaborate. “The Crown Prince’s visit will further reinforce strong India-UAE bilateral relations and open avenues for partnership in new and emerging areas,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs.

The UAE and India are significant trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $85 billion in 2022-23.

Prime Minister Modi last visited Abu Dhabi on February 14, where he inaugurated the city’s first Hindu stone temple. During his trip, Modi addressed the Indian community at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ (Hello Modi in Arabic) event at Zayed Sports City Stadium, and was awarded the UAE’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Zayed.

Earlier in January this year, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with PM Modi in Gandhinagar during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The two leaders later held a roadshow in Ahmedabad ahead of the summit, showcasing the strong and growing ties between the UAE and India.

The relationship between the two nations has been on an upward trajectory, particularly following PM Modi’s landmark visit to the UAE in August 2015, which elevated their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This partnership has since deepened, with the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022. CEPA has significantly boosted economic engagement, eliminating and reducing tariffs, fostering a more open trade environment, and enhancing market access for service providers across various sectors.

The UAE ranks among the top four investors in India, with foreign direct investments reaching a substantial level in 2022-23. Bilateral trade between the two nations stood at around $85 billion in 2022-23, underscoring the growing economic ties.
