Indigo Flight Status: With the IndiGo airline experiencing delays and cancellations of its flight services for the past eight days, travellers are having a tough time staying updated on flight schedules and status across India.
On Friday, the airline cancelled all domestic flights from Delhi airport till midnight, with its on-time performance (OTP) at six major metro airports falling sharply to 8.5% on Thursday, according to data released on the Civil Aviation Ministry’s website. More than 400 flights were cancelled, and a large number of flights were delayed at various airports.
A day earlier, over 250 IndiGo flights were estimated to be cancelled across major airports. The airline’s OTP had crashed further to 19.7 per cent on Wednesday, down from 35 per cent on Tuesday, and around 50 per cent on Monday.
The primary reason for this disruption is crew shortages in the wake of the new FDTL rules. The airline on Thursday informed aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that it will start reducing flight operations from Monday (December 8) to minimise the disruption, and expects normalised and stable operations to be fully restored by February 10, the regulator said.
However, more cancellations could be seen over the next two-three days as part of IndiGo’s schedule stabilisation efforts.
